    Our First "Sun"day School Class

Sunday, April 13, 2008, 09:36 PM CST [General]

Today was our first "sun"day school class.  I read the children the short story in the front of "To Ride A Silver Broomstick" and then we had discussion about the God and Goddess.  Then I asked them to draw their interpretaion of the God and Goddess to go in their very own Book of Shadows.  They then asked if they could draw their interpretation of the elements.  I was overjoyed at their enthusiasm.  I need to get some more material, so I will know how to explain things to them better.  But overall, I think this was a good start.

    My Ostara

Thursday, March 27, 2008, 06:49 PM CST [General]

I decided about a month ago to recess from the pagan community and focus on my children and teaching them the ways of the Goddess.  Ostara was my first Sabbat ritual that I put on myself for my family.  We had such a lovely day.  We colored eggs and put the druid symbols for the elements on them and used them in ritual.  We also made homemade flower pots out of toilet paper rolls and went outside and filled with dirt to use in ritual.  I made Lunar cookies myself since Friday was also Full Moon.  And we had a traditional feast of roast lamb, salad, and deviled eggs (made from the eggs we used during ritual).  And those are just the highlights.  I was so tired from the day that I fell asleep shortly after the feast.  Its like I found my own little community right here at home, and without all of the drive (especially with gas prices as high as they are).  All I need now is to get a sling for the baby so I can have my hands free during ritual.  At night we are saying goodnight to the sun, and hello to the moon.  I took them outside right before a storm last week so they could feel the way the wind touched their face, like the careess of the Goddess.  I hope everyone's Ostara was as lovely as mine.

    Happy Solstice To All

Friday, December 21, 2007, 07:31 PM CST [General]

Just wanted to wish everyone here a Happy Solstice.

On another note my 21 day cleansing will be over tommorrow.  I took the Reiki attunements 3 weeks ago. Looking forward to starting my life as a Reiki healer.  I want to set up my own healing room here in the house sometime in the coming year.

    Honored

Thursday, October 4, 2007, 07:33 PM CST [General]

I got a phone call today from a good friend who is one of the only outside people I have told I am pagan.  She was a really good friend and earlier this year she moved away and I haven't heard from her since.  Well she has moved back and in the time that we have been apart she has been doing some reading.  And today she has honored me by asking me to be her teacher.  I feel so flatered by this.  I explained to her that I am not Wiccan, and therefore anything she learns under me would not classify as a First Degree, and she said she understood, and that is ok with her.  I hope I will be a good teacher, and above all maybe we can learn and have fun together.

    Eyes opening

Friday, September 28, 2007, 05:18 PM CST [General]

The past 2 weeks have been really eye opening for me.  I have learned to look at the food that I am consuming and futhermore, feeding to my family.  I thought that I was doing good all this time, but in reality I haven't been eating my fruits and veggies like I should.  And this could be the big issue with the blas that I have been experiencing.  This eye opening has been thanks in part to the BBC America show "You are what you eat".  Unfortunatley, I have been letting the working of my book, go to the wayside.  I still feel really tired. Of course, it could be cause I get up way to early on the days that I work.  And I don't make up for it by going to bed earlier. I still have a very long way to go, but at least I feel I am on the right track.  The turtle did win the race in the end, not the hare.

I think "fluff bunnies," in a "negative" connotation are people that are perhaps not serious about the craft/path, and are 'doing' it because it's "in" or it's "cool" to do magick. They learn just enough to get by, know a few 'buzz words' but their knowledge isn't deep.

Quite honestly, I think the fluff bunny thing is taken too seriously. Of course you're not going to know a whole lot when you start out, everyone needs to begin from somewhere, and the enthusiasm can be refreshing. As for being "in" or "cool"... I dunno, if you weren't raised into something, exposure to some one who's already walking the path will seem new, different, and if you happen to connect to it, then great!

You're absolutely right: people need to be more tolerant, and be more encouraging to beginners instead of criticizing them. :)
